Dr. Aly Cohen was a recent guest on Whole Body Mental Health Radio, a show that thinks broadly about mental health and addictions, from the mind-body connection and the gut, to the environment and the world. Dr. Calderón hosts Whole Body Mental Health Radio, a show that features a conversation with a thought-provoking guest speaker, with topics ranging from genetics and the gut-brain connection, to psychology and psychotherapy, recovery trends, pharmacology, mind-body-medicine, mindfulness, community health, public policy, cross-cultural psychiatry, managed care, and the environment. WHIV radio is dedicated to human rights, social justice, and public health.
Dr. Calderón, board certified in psychiatry and addiction medicine, with an additional certification in mind-body medicine, is interested in integrative approaches to healthcare, prevention, education, research and treatment of psychiatric conditions, and addictions. He is the author of several national and international scientific publications in disaster medicine, the reconstruction of mental health services post hurricane Katrina, and mind-body approaches to care for healthcare providers. He is currently conducting research on mind-body based relapse prevention for addictions.
Dr. Calderón has been an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry with LSU School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry for over 10 years; is Clinical Faculty with Tulane University’s Department of Psychiatry and Saybrook University in San Francisco where he teaches the mindfulness course. He is in private practice where he built the only fully integrative psychiatric practice in New Orleans. Dr. Calderón is a consultant to the Harvard University Program for Refugee Trauma and the Mexican Minister of Public Safety, and is national faculty for the Center for Mind-Body Medicine in Washington, D.C.
